US Warns Rwandan President, Paul Kagame Over Third Term Bid

The United States has expressed its disgust at Rwandan President's bid to go for a third term against the constitutionally stipulated two-term.
President Barak Obama

The United States said on Saturday it is “deeply disappointed that President Paul Kagame has announced his intention to run for a third term in office”.

The spokesperson for that country’s Department of State, an equivalent of Nigeria’s foreign ministry, said with his decision to take a third shot at the Rwandan presidency,“President Kagame ignores an historic opportunity to reinforce and solidify the democratic institutions the Rwandan people have for more than twenty years laboured so hard to establish”.

The statement by John Kirby added, “The United States believes constitutional transitions of power are essential for strong democracies and that efforts by incumbents to change rules to stay in power weaken democratic institutions.

“We are particularly concerned by changes that favour one individual over the principle of democratic transitions.

“As Rwanda moves toward local elections this year, presidential elections next year, and parliamentary elections in 2018, we call upon the Government of Rwanda to ensure and respect the rights of its citizens to exercise their freedom of expression, conscience, and peaceful assembly — the hallmarks of true democracies.

“The United States remains committed to supporting the free and full participation of the Rwandan people in the electoral processes ahead.”

Mr. Kagame recently instigated a constitutional change in his country which cleared him to run for a third term of office. The adjustment of the presidential term rules was done despite the unfolding political crisis in neighbouring Burundi. At least 200 people have died and tens of thousands have left the country after months of violence and protests since President Pierre Nkurunziza declared he would seek a third term in office, which he then won in a contested vote in July.

Mr. Nkurunziza, a former Hutu rebel leader, became Burundi’s first democratically elected president after its civil war, but is now reluctant to leave power.

In a touch of irony, Mr. Kagame recently gave a speech pointedly critical of Mr. Nkurunziza, saying he was allowing his people to die.

“No one knows where he is, no one can talk to him, how he leads his people, people are dying every day, dead bodies are being dragged on the streets every day,’’ Mr. Kagame said.

In October, Congo Republic voted in a referendum which cleared its 72-year old President, Denis Sassou Nguesso, to legally stand for a third consecutive term in next year’s election. In October 2014, Burkina Faso’s leader of 27 years was toppled, amid violent protests as he made to stay put in office.

Charlotte Rose the dominatrix has offered to have sex with Mohammed after learning he had surgery to fit an 8-inch bionic penis which has only just begun working.

Mohammed who had his penis ripped off in a horror accident in childhood is to lose his virginity to an "award winning" dominatrix.

Mohammed Abad from Edinburgh is to rendezvous with Charlotte Rose in London after a dinner date this week.

The 43-year-old was lucky to survive after he was run over in Huddersfield, in 1978, aged six - now he's excited for the moment he's going to have sex for the first time.

He said: “I have waited long enough for this — it’ll be a great start to the new year.

"My penis is working perfectly now so I just want to do it.

"I’m really excited. I can’t wait for it to finally happen.”

Mr Abad first had surgery to fit the 8inch bionic penis in 2012 and it has now become fully functional. The penis has two tubes which inflate when he presses a button on his testicle.

Charlotte Rose

Rose who won British Erotic Award for Sex Worker of the Year in 2013 offered to have sex with Mohammed for free after learning about his plight from newspapers and the TV show Embarrassing Bodies .

The 35 year-old mum-of-two who starred on a Channel 4 series on prostitution called ‘Love For Sale’ alongside actor Rupert Everett has waived her usual £200-an-hour fee.

She said: “I am so honoured that he chose me to take his virginity.

“We plan to have a dinner date so we can get to know each other and then two hours of private time. I’m not charging him.”

“Hopefully he can then find a lovely lady to settle down with.”

It has been a rocky road to sexual awakening for Mr Abad who dreams of becoming a father one day.

Two years ago he married but neglected to tell his wife of his condition until their wedding night. She left him last year after becoming tired of waiting.

Britain Reveals What Will Happen to James Ibori's Loot...See Details

British High Commissioner Paul Arkwright, who spoke on the fraud case of former governor of Delta state James Ibori, has revealed what will become of his loot.

Former Delta State governor, James Ibori

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria spoke about the ongoing Ibori case and when his stolen loot could be returned to Nigeria.

Ibori pled guilty to ten counts of money laundering and conspiracy to commit fraud in February 2012 and was sentenced to 13 years in jail.

Along with imprisonment, Ibori also had a substantial amount of property seized, including a N648 billion mansion in London, a N942 billion mansion in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a number of cars including several Range Rover jeeps, a Bentley Continental GT, and a top of the range Mercedes.

In an interview with Punch, Arkwright said that the British government remains in the possession of Ibori’s stolen loot.

“The UK has ensured that assets seized, confiscated or forfeited that fall within Article 57 United Nations Convention Against Corruption 2005 are returned to the country from which they were stolen. We are working with the Nigerian authorities to deliver an effective mechanism for the return of stolen funds and assets from Nigeria.

“None of the money from Ibori’s confiscation has as yet been returned; his confiscation hearing is scheduled to take place later in 2016. Assets have been forfeited and confiscated from linked trials and we are, through the Home Office, working on the modality of their return, he said.

“The UK government does not aid corruption in Nigeria or elsewhere. The arrest and prosecution of James Ibori in a UK court demonstrates our commitment to this agenda.”

However, Arkwright also refused to say whether the British government will accede to President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for the extradition of former petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madeuke.

Alidon-Madeuke remains embroiled in a corruption scandal after being arrested by the British authorities on October 2, 2015.

“It is a matter of public record that £27,000 was seized from Diezani Allison-Madueke at Westminster Magistrates Court along with smaller sums from two other individuals, but we are not providing any further detail at this time and it should not be inferred that this relates to any previous statements made by the UK National Crime Agency,” Arkwright said.

DPR Warns Filling Stations Against Selling Above N86.50

The Department of Petroleum Resources has issued a warning to filling stations across Nigeria not to sell fuel above the normal pump prize or risk facing serious consequences.

The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, has warned that any filling station found to be selling Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as fuel above the official pump price of N86.50 will be made to give out the product to motorists for free.

Daily Post reports that the agency’s Assistant Director of Public Affairs, Dorothy Bassey while issuing this warning in Lagos, said, “We have put effective monitoring teams in place that will go out to monitor the level of compliance with the new pump price.

“We will ensure that any station caught selling above the pump prices will have its product dispensed to customers for free. You know that there is holiday today, monitoring is going round, but we are going to commence on rigorous monitoring when we resume on Monday. People just refused to change to what will be beneficial to all, but we were assured that it will not be the same story next week.”
It was learnt that some marketers have partially compiled with the Federal Government’s announcement of new pump price.

Reacting to the warning, Chinedu Okoronkwo, National President of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, said marketers were selling their old stock, adding that market forces would compel everybody to comply.

He said: “People should see the policy as a policy that will unlock the sector. I’m sure they will change to the new price once they finish selling the old stock and work with the new regime of Muhammadu Buhari and begin to move the sector forward.”

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan's Campaign Rice Stirs Up Controversy in Edo...See Shocking Details

The members of the APC and PDP in Edo state are currently trading words over bags of rice shared among voters by the former president during the election campaign period.

All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State has described as laughable, the defence by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state that none of its governorship aspirants diverted rice meant for the state by the campaign organisation of former President Goodluck Jonathan, reports Vanguard.

The party threatened to take evidence of the rice which indicated how the sticker of the aspirant was super-imposed on the sack of the 2KG rice while under it was the map of Nigeria with the inscription “Feed Nigeria Campaign 2015”, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Presidency for probe.

Some leaders of the PDP, led by Okharedia Ihimekpen, had raised alarm last week, alleging that the governorship aspirant seized the rice meant for PDP members during Jonathan’s presidential campaign and shared it to his supporters this Christmas.

They urged the EFCC and the Presidency to probe the matter, adding that it was the same way that funds meant for the Jonathan’s election were siphoned in the state. But the state PDP, through Mr Chris Nehikhare, described the allegation as untrue, insisting that none of its governorship aspirants diverted rice meant for Jonathan’s campaign in the state.

However, the APC in the state through its state Publicity Secretary, Godwin Erhahon, who displayed the rice to journalists, said the PDP members who were allegedly denied the rice brought the rice to him.

Displaying the rice to journalists, Erhahon said, “You can see that originally, what was written on the sack was Feed Nigeria Campaign 2015. But the aspirant super-imposed his campaign sticker on it. Can somebody who is running for governorship write ‘Feed Nigeria Campaign’ in the rice he wants to share to his supporters? No. Rather, it should have been feed Edo State.”
