Sharia Court in Kano Sentences Imam to Death...See Shocking Reason

A Sharia court in Kano state has sentenced an Islamic Cleric to death for going against certain fundamental Islamic rules.

A Kano-based Sharia court has sentenced an Imam, Abdul Niasse, to death for blaspheming Islam's holiest figure, Prophet Muhammad.

According to the prosecutor Lamido Abba Soron-Dinki who spoke with AFP, Niasse was sentenced at a secret trial to "avoid a repeat of the mob action" seen at a previous hearing of the court.

Niasse caused public outrage in May when he allegedly made derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad to followers as they marked the birthday of the former leader of the Muslim Tijaniyya Sufi order, Ibrahim Niasse.

He was arrested in Abuja in August where he was in hiding and was brought back to Kano for his trial.

Soron-Dinki added that: "He has up to a month to appeal the sentence and it is most likely he is going for an appeal."

Professor Wole Soyinka at dinner with Ritimi Amaechi

Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Austin- Tam George, has expressed shock that former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi expended N82million to host Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka to a 3 hour dinner at a period he refused to pay salaries.

Addressing Government House, Port Harcourt correspondents on Tuesday, Dr Tam George said that the figures were contained in the hand over note prepared by the former Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information and Communication under the Amaechi administration.

He said: "A government that did not pay salaries, closed the courts , but the administration had the courage to expend N82million to fund a dinner for Prof Wole Soyinka. These are facts on ground. The Amaechi administration expended the money under the heading of borrowed funds.

“ There is a massive propaganda machine out there misinforming the people about the policy direction of Governor Wike’s administration. They have to respect the will of the people. Instead, they go about spreading falsehood against the people of the state ".
He charged the news men to emphasize the developmental achievements of Governor Wike with facts because Rivers State is currently dealing with a “ disastrous legacy of abandoned projects” by the Rotimi Amaechi’s administration.

Dr. George who noted that the Wike administration is currently facing a combination of “ 85% information war” and “ political fundamentalism” also said the APC seeking to establish a “ political caliphate” in Rivers State, by installing Dr. Dakuku whose is a fake political candidate of the APC.

The Commissioner also described those who said Wike’ s government is serving only Ikwerre interests as talking “ anthropological nonsense” because he is running an all- inclusive of government of indigenes from the 23 LGAs of Rivers State.

See the Face of Fuel Thief Caught in Port Harcourt, Rivers State (Photo).

An oil thief went close to being brutally lynched by an angry mob in the South-South part of Nigeria following a failed robbery operation.
The suspect, Kenneth Eze

A suspected fuel thief on Monday escaped being lynched by an angry mob in Port Harcourt after he threatened to kill a teenager who caught him in the act, according to the Punch.

The suspect, who identified himself as Kenneth Eze, had warned the teenager not to raise the alarm or risk being killed. It was gathered that Eze had stolen the fuel from the Udi taxi park where a black marketer usually sold premium motor spirit (petrol) to commercial drivers.

The 17-year-old boy, who saw him from afar, had walked up to the fuel thief and asked him to take the loot back to the owner.

Rather than listen to the boy’s advice, Eze threatened that he was a member of a deadly cult group that would come after the teenager should anything happen to him (the suspect).

Not frightened by the suspect’s subtle and silent intimidation, the boy raised the alarm and a crowd gathered. The boy pointed at the 50 litres of petrol and accused Eze of stealing the item from the nearby taxi park.

“The man (Eze) thought he could intimidate me by saying he was a member of a deadly cult group. I noticed he was not armed and I decided to raise the alarm,” the boy, who would not mention his name, told Southern City News.

The mob pounced on Eze, even as he pleaded for mercy, promising to turn a new leaf. Not moved by his plea, the mob attempted to set fire to the suspect but he fled from Udi Street in Mile One, Diobu, where he was caught to Ikwerre Road.

Earlier, the suspect had told Southern City News he actually attempted to steal the fuel, but added that it was his first time to be involved in such an act.

“I am a driver and I have never stolen before. I wanted to take the keg of fuel away, but had to hide by the side of a car there when I saw the police coming. It was temptation and this is my first time of involving in this. If I lie, may I never see tomorrow,”
 the suspect swore.

The owner of the stolen fuel later took away his property and thanked the boy for being smart enough to stop the thief.
