I'm an Actor from Ghana, Not a Ghanaian Actor - Majid Michel

Handsome actor, Majid Michael has corrected the notion of being labeled as a Ghanaian actor as he believes it limits the scope of his profession.
Majid Michel

Majid Michel has stated that he is not a Ghanaian actor but rather, he is an actor from Ghana.

Michel made this statement which sounds controversial at the press launch of Kofas Media’s new movie project “Amakye & Dede”.

During the Q & A section of the conference, the popular actor was asked if there is a funny bone in him, and if there is, how he can make
viewers of “Amakye & Dede” laugh when it’s finally out.

This question came forth because Michel has not been cast in a lot of comic movies. In respond to the question, Majid said that he believes acting as an art is universal and every actor has a challenge that he wants to conquer.

“Well, I am an actor and I believe acting is an act and art is universal… I am not a Ghanaian actor; I am an actor from Ghana. So I was there as an actor and this director said he wants me for a film and I said what is it about and he said this is it. ”

Newborn Baby Dies After Doctor Pulled Him Out Wrongly During Delivery

A tribunal has heard how a doctor forcefully pulled a baby out of her mother's womb during delivery resulting in death.

A doctor is alleged to have pulled a baby around ‘like a ragdoll’ during a bungled delivery.

Harry Page, who was in a breech position when he was delivered, died within 24 hours from a massive brain injury, a tribunal heard. Dr Anupama Ram Mohan is alleged to have forcefully pulled Harry by his feet from ‘side to side and up and down’ while gritting her teeth. Harry suffered injuries to the base of his skull causing haemorrhaging during the birth in 2012. His twin brother, Ollie, was delivered safely by another doctor.

Dr Mohan, who had only worked at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, for four months, trained in India before working in Oman.
Harry’s father, Owen, expressed concerns during the birth.

He told the tribunal: ‘Harry was being pulled round like a ragdoll. It appeared she was pulling him side-to-side and up and down.
‘His legs were almost touching my wife’s stomach. His legs came down very quickly because there was a lot of force applied to it. It appeared to me at the time that Dr Mohan was gritting her teeth to do this procedure, she had a really tight face.
‘Watching the movement and the force and the look on her face worried me. I thought it was an uncontrolled procedure. She then let him hang there with no support for a period of time before she did the same procedure again.. She was standing there with her hands down by her waist. On the second manoeuvre he literally popped out.
‘Initially I thought Harry’s neck was going to stretch, break or give in. I was horrified by it. It looked like it was so stretched it was going to snap.’

Harry’s mother Vicki, said: ‘On one of two occasions she lifted his feet in the air and it felt more intrusive and she was more vigorous and his feet came close to my stomach.

‘I felt it was aggressive when I was there and I was looking at others for reassurance and didn’t get that when I looked at people’s faces so I was concerned.’

Mrs Page said: ‘I believe the manoeuvre she carried out caused his death and it was irreversible as the consultant told us on the day we turned his life support machine off.

The hearing was told Mohan had tried two different procedures to deliver Harry – the Burns Marshall and the Mauriceau Smellie Veit. She initially tried the Burns Marshall method then the MSV before returning to the original procedure.

The ‘Burns Marshall’ manoeuvre involves bringing the baby’s feet, legs and shoulders out of the pelvis and then swinging the body up. But it was claimed Mohan caused Harry’s legs to be moved too high and past his vertical position and also too near to his mother’s abdomen – placing tremendous strain on his neck.

Mohan 51, from Milton Keynes, later claimed at no point did she lift his legs ‘past the vertical’. But she was accused of lying in statements and in evidence to a coroner who recorded a narrative verdict at an inquest in 2013.

Lawyer for the General Medical Council, Paul Raudnitz said: ‘Dr Mohan performed the Burns Marshall but did so in such a way she brought the legs of Harry greater than the vertical and near to Mrs Page’s abdomen.
‘She has accepted she attempted a Burns Marshall, but denied it was with any force and, in particular, she has consistently denied that she brought the legs greater than the vertical. She has said she went on to perform MSV and maintained that that was successful in delivery.
‘She has denied there was any attempted, successful or otherwise, second Burns Marshall. Whether she brought the legs greater than the vertical in one or more of the Burns Marshall manoeuvres the GMC say the way she performed is part of the issue.
‘Should it be found she brought the legs greater than the vertical then we would say that the standard of care was seriously below that expected of a reasonably competent registrar in obstetrics.’

Mr Raudnitz added that Dr Mohan then gave ‘false evidence’ to the coroner to ‘minimise her culpability for what happened’.

Mohan denies misconduct and denies causing the tot’s death. She is also accused of failing to record issues she encountered during Harry’s birth but admits failing to record using one or more Burns-Marshall manoeuvre. She denies advising for inappropriate medication to be administered during the delivery, making false records and giving false evidence to the inquest.
The hearing continues.

You Can't Divorce Me Unless You Return Me Back to the Way You Met Me - Wife Tells Husband in Court

A woman whose husband is on the verge of divorcing has given the man a most stringent condition for the dissolution of marriage.

A 35- year old woman, Basirat Alatise, caused a mild drama at the Agboyi/Ketu customary court when she blatantly refused the court to dissolve her marriage, saying that the only condition for accepting divorce is if the husband could restore her to the state he met her so that she could be attractive to a man if she is willing to get married again.

According to Authority, the woman's 48-year-old husband, Morufu Alatise had earlier petitioned the court to dissolve the three-year-old marriage on the grounds that there is no more love as well as destruction of his property, constant embarrassment in public and show of wickedness.

Giving his testimony, Mr Morufu said that he met his wife, Basirat at a carnival and he liked her and decided to marry her; he met the mum who gave her approval and they got married.

According to him, he told the wife that he has a woman who has given birth for him earlier and asked if she was okay with it and the wife accepted. However, it happened that the lady who gave birth for him started coming to visit and whenever the wife sees the woman, she gets violent and embarrasses him in public to the point of having him arrested him and put in a cell.

He then urged the court to dissolve the marriage and ask the wife what he did that would warrant her arresting him all the time.

When the court asked the wife to explain why she kept arresting the husband, and she narrated that, “When I met my husband, he never told me he was married. My relatives though were asking me how a man in his forties would not be married; that it is better we investigate and know why he is not yet married all these years. It was then that we discovered that he already has a wife and when I confronted him, he said that the wife he married died. After a while we discovered it was a lie, that the wife is alive and I became friends with her.

“After a while, we then discovered that he now has another girlfriend he was secretly seeing and the lady comes to his office which is in our house to come visit him. It was very embarrassing for me and I confronted him and he told the lady to beat me up. We fought and the lady tore my clothes and I immediately went to report at the police station and he was arrested and put in cell because he refused to produce the lady who fought me but I eventually bailed him.

“When it was time for me to give birth, I went to the hospital and we did scan and found out that I will have twins and after he heard that, he disappeared. I called him, looked for him everywhere but couldn’t find him and my mother and my relatives decided to support me. I gave birth to the twins; one of the babies was sickly and the baby died because we didn’t have money to buy the drugs as at the time the baby needed to take the drugs. He still didn’t show up or show any remorse that we lost a child. On the day of the naming ceremony, he came and stood like a stranger. He didn’t pay the hospital bill; he didn’t give any money for the naming ceremony.

“I still forgave him but he still brings the new girlfriend to his office which my father gave him. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I usually harass him so that he would know that I am not happy with his attitude and he still continued and had the audacity to say he wants divorce. I will never accept any divorce except he has the power to take me back to the position he met me before I got pregnant; return all the money I have spent, otherwise, this our marriage is until death do us part.”

In all the narration, the husband did not counter anything the wife said, but was quiet with his head bowed.

O. Adebiyi who stood in for the president of the court said that it was clear who is hurting and he called the parties to his chambers and adjourned the case to February 3, 2016 for continuation of hearing.

Five Criteria Ladies Use in Disqualifying Suitors (Must Read)

There are some major hurdles a male suitor must scale before being considered for marriage by most Nigerian ladies.

1. Age Difference: Speaking with different Ladies i observed and noticed that among the many perequisite for choosing life partner stands tall the Age difference. Often, Ladies as gathered, prefered men older than themselves; 4 at minimum. Only the shameless few prefer younger ones. Dating a girl? check the difference to know your fate!

2. Romance And Sexual Prowess: Since it is a lifetime thing, romance is significant as much as sexual strength. Most ladies according to my research engage this method in disqualifying potential suitors.

3. Understanding: Like I have briefly explained in my coming novel, Understanding is a key dertermining factor in choosing a life partner. Before a Lady can choose you as a Life partner there is this neccesity to meet the understanding gauge, anything below is "to your tent O Isreal"

4. Wealth: Define it anyway you want, wealth rules. I'm not talking about money, everyone has money; you do, i do even if it is #10. But wealth not all have got. And that, has been the cruel criteria with which Ladies disqualifies suitors.

5. Character:
Bad morals? Check it my brother, celibacy is your call.

President Obama Set to Make First Presidential Visit to American Mosque

With less than a year left in the White House, Barack Obama is still notching up firsts. On Wednesday he will make his first presidential visit to a mosque on American soil.
President Barrack Obama

Seven years into his presidency, Barack Obama will make his first trip to an American mosque on Wednesday, offering a high-profile rebuttal of harsh Republican election-year rhetoric against Muslims.

Obama, whose grandfather converted to Islam, will make the short trip to the Islamic Society of Baltimore mosque, where he will meet community leaders and deliver remarks. He has visited mosques in Malaysia, Indonesia and Egypt as president, but has yet to visit one of America's 2,000-plus places of Islamic worship.

Much of Obama's foreign policy agenda has focused on improving ties with Muslim nations, from making a nuclear deal with Iran to ending wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the effort has been stymied by continued confrontation with jihadist groups and military strikes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

His latest effort to ease interfaith relations comes as a shrill election debate has sullied America's image abroad and jihadist attacks in San Bernardino and Philadelphia threatened to shatter post-9/11 religious solidarity at home.

Six days after the 2001 attacks in New York and Washington, then president George W. Bush visited the Islamic Center of Washington, declaring "Islam is peace."

Today, Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump has wooed conservative voters by demanding a ban on Muslim immigrants, while frontrunner, Ted Cruz has advocated Christian-only admissions and championed"Judeo-Christian values."

"We're seeing all this right wing anti-Muslim hate. It's the perfect time for him to come," said Riham Osman of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, an advocacy group.

The White House is keen to offer an image of America that stresses the country's secular tradition and contrasts with Republicans' "divisive rhetoric."

White House spokesman, Josh Earnest said Obama will"affirm the important role that Muslim Americans play in our society" and argue that "law-abiding Americans should be able to worship God in the manner that they see fit."

"And they shouldn't be subject to ridicule or targeting by anybody, let alone somebody who aspires to leading the country," Earnest added. "We have seen an alarming willingness on the part of some Republicans to try to marginalize law-abiding, patriotic Muslim Americans, and it is offensive."

Obama is also likely to restate his case that organizations like the Islamic State group pervert Islam and do not represent the vast majority of Muslims.

The United States is home to around 3.3 million Muslims. Around 81 Muslim-Americans were involved in violent extremist plots in 2015, according to the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security.

But Obama is expected to call on Muslim leaders to help tackle radicalization.

"We know that there are extremist organizations like ISIL that are seeking to use social media to radicalize vulnerable members of the population," said Earnest. "Certainly the leaders in the Muslim community have a strong interest in preventing that from happening."
