How Starving Nigerian Toddler Accused of Being a Witch was Saved by a Danish Woman

The world stood still for a Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven after she miraculously rescued a toddler left to die by his family who accused him of being a witch.
Loven rescued the boy abandoned by his family

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven has found herself gathering commendation after an extraordinary encounter with a toddler abandoned and left for dead who was accused of being a witch.

Loven posted photos of the emaciated little boy, whom she named “Hope,” on Facebook on Jan. 31 and wrote the story that captured the interest of the world.

According to reports, Loven had received a tip that Hope, who was no older than 3 years old, was abandoned by his family and left to die in the streets after he was accused of witchcraft.

“When we heard that the child was only 2 to 3 years old, we did not hesitate,” Loven told Huffington Post UK. “A child that young cannot survive a long time alone on the streets. We immediately prepared a rescue mission.”

Loven is an aid worker, she founded the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF) three years ago after traveling to Nigeria and being confronted with dozens of children such as Hope.

The story of Hope is quite inspiring. He was rescued when all hope was lost. His family had abandoned him, after he was dubbed a witch.

Hope was not Loven's first rescue. In 2014, many media outlets reported that ACAEDF had rescued two 8-year-old children who were accused of witchcraft by their family and tortured.

Hope is now recuperating

It is quite disheartening that some people could be cruel to a helpless toddler and many others who are face with such terrible accusation and left in total darkness all for superstition.

According to UNICEF, belief in witchcraft has been exploited by local churches and “pastor-prophets” who charge a fee to rid families of malevolent spirits.

The story of Hope is one that is inspiring which has opened the eyes of the world to the terrible things happening in some part of the world. Thanks to Loven for the audacity to accept the toddler even when every other person abandoned her.

As a result of her goodwill, this has inspired a flood of donations to a little-known aid organization that seeks to rescue the growing number of children accused of witchcraft and many more will still come.

Ben Murray-Bruce Blasts Buhari's Appointment of Media Aides While Economy Crashes

Bayelsa State senator, Ben-Murray Bruce has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari's focus on media rather than the ailing economy of Nigeria after the president employed international journalist, Tolu Ogunlesi as his media aide.
Ben Murray-Bruce

Highly vocal senator and chairman of Silverbird group, Ben Murray-Bruce has aired his candid opinion on the appointment of Buhari's staunch Twitter supporter, Tolu Ogunlesi as the Special Adviser on Digital/New Media to the presidency.

The senator feels Buhari is channeling much energy into the media with the appointment of 4 media aides so far with no Special Adviser on the economy despite the dire need of one.

Nigeria is currently struggling economically following the fall of oil prices in the international market to $27 per barrel with the value of the Nigerian currency hitting a record low of almost N400 to a dollar.

Shocking Revelation: See How Much Buhari's Government Makes on Every Litre of Petrol

Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) has revealed that petrol may cost less in April, with the President Buhari led government federal government already making billions in few weeks, owing to the new price modulation process.

Speaking during his handover in Abuja on Thursday, the immediate past executive secretary, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Farouk Ahmed, says petrol may cost less in April, with the President Buhari-led federal government already making N13.81 on petrol as at Tuesday.

According to Farouk, the federal government has been able to save N2.6 billion in six weeks, owing to the new price modulation process, adding that the government has moved from the regime of under-recovery where Nigerians are paying less for the product, to over-recovery where Nigerians are paying too much for the product.

He said the price of the product should be cheaper by the second quarter of 2016. "As at the February 12, 2016, because we verify based on what was imported, about N2.6 billion has accrued to that account," he said.

Speaking of an account opened for subsidy modulation savings, he said, "The fund is still low because most of the cargoes arrived in December last year. The PPPRA has already communicated to the appropriate authorities that we are in the regime of over-recovery.

"Indeed as at Tuesday close of market, the subsidy on petrol was N13.81Kobo over-recovery. The PPPRA would now send a debit note to every marketer that falls within that bracket to refund the money to government."

Farouk, who was relieved of his duties on Monday, in a mass sack action, said he held for the whereabouts of the money made from over-recovery, adding that it is safe in an account with the CBN and managed by the accountant-general of the federation.

"There is already an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which is managed by the Accountant-General of the Federation where all over-recovered funds are deposited. So, there is no question about where does the money from over-recovery goes into."

He however added that the money made by the federal government in over-recovery, would be saved for rainy days to subsidise petrol, when the prices spike again. Ahmed handed over to Moses Mbaba, the general manager, administration and human resources.

Porn Stars Beg Officials Not to Make S*x with Condoms Compulsory

Porn stars have begged the government not to force them to wear a condom during s*x as it would turn many people off.

Porn stars will not be forced to wear condoms after persuading lawmakers to vote against a law making it compulsory.

Actors, directors and producers of raunchy flicks told the health standards board that laws making contraception in porn a legal requirement would force them to make films no one would want to watch.

They said it could also drive the industry underground – leading porn stars to ignore other health and safety standards, like regular 14 day STI check ups.

Siouxsie Q, a porn actress who spoke at the hearing, said: “I know you guys work really hard and have our best interests at stake, but we need you to work with us to find a solution.

“When you criminalise sex work in any way, you make it more dangerous.”

But the Californian board couldn’t get up enough votes to force adult video stars into wearing a Johnnie.

It comes despite protest groups and pressures from other people in the industry who said it could increase the risk of HIV.

The AIDS healthcare foundation have long argued that condoms must be compulsory for actors.

Campaigners want the government to force prostitutes to always use condom during intercourse

It even managed to make sexual protection compulsory in Los Angeles.

Californian officials will now try to pound out a new deal for alternative ways of keeping porn actors safe in the sex industry.
