Beatrice Itubo, the factional Chairman of the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, escaped the attempted assassination, after a gang of three gunmen broke into her residence in the early hours of Saturday.

According to DailyPost reports that the hoodlums stormed Itubo’s residence at Rumuaholu community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, shot at the gate and damaged doors to force their way into her bedroom.

Confirming the development in an interview, Itubo said one of the gunmen was overpowered by members of her household, while two of the gang members escaped.

Beatrice Itubo, who leads a faction of the NLC in Rivers State, said it was possible that she was attacked because of the power tussle in the union. She urged the Rivers State Police Command to investigate the attempted assassination and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Narrating her experience, she said: “At about 3 am, I started hearing some noise with dogs around my area barking. I told my husband, then I became restless. In the next few minutes I saw them in my room. They used my younger brother to make me open the door to my room.

“As they were walking into my room, my younger brother shouted that I should run that they are not armed robbers, they want to kill you. So we shut the door immediately and locked the rest of them outside to battle with the armed one already inside.

“They were all masked but by the grace of God my husband and my younger brother were able to over-power him and unarm him. We have handed him over to the police. The rest ran away.”

Policemen from Rumuokoro Division in Port Harcourt visited the scene of the attack and took the motionless body of one of the suspected assassins.

After the likes of 2face Idibia, Timaya, M.I, Wizkid, Koredo Bello, Reekado Bank among many others had performed, it was D’banj’s turn to do his thing. Silverbird boss, Ben Bruce got to the stage, collected the microphone from D’banj and started calling out to Don Jazzy to join them on the stage.

Don Jazzy was nowhere to be found. Dbanj also rushed to the crowd to fetch his erstwhile friend, but he had disappeared. Meanwhile, one of the wishes of the birthday boy for the night was for the duo (Don Jazzy and D’banj) to perform together on one stage just to tell the world that there's no more war.

Responding to Ben Bruce’s 'please do this for me, it is my birthday request' plea, D’banj said that he is ready to work with the Mavin boss whenever he is ready.

"I have given serious consideration to this. Before I came on stage, I went to Don Jazzy and asked him to join me on stage. If he gives me a beat today, the song will be ready the next day," D’banj said.

At this point when Don jazzy is still nowhere to be found, D’banj said: "Uncle Ben, what you are asking me to do, I have done already. As I was coming up the stage, I saw him sitting over there and I told him I will call him on stage for a joint performance, but now he has run away. If you want us to do a duet, talk to Don Jazzy; It’s in his hands because if he agrees tomorrow, we will do it next tomorrow. I am ready anytime."

However, when Don Jazzy noticed Twitter was on his case, insinuating he left the birthday party venue so as not to perform jointly with D’banj, he tweeted these:

Uganda's President Wins 5th Term in Presidential Elections After Spending 30 Years in Power

The president of Uganda has just won another term in office after having already spent 30 years in the seat of power.

Uganda's President, Yoweri Museveni extended his three-decade rule on Saturday after winning a fifth term in polls rejected as fraudulent by his closest rival who was under house arrest.

The veteran 71-year-old won 60% of the vote in the sometimes chaotic elections, far ahead of the 35% garmered by detained opposition leader, Kizza Besigye, whose house was surrounded by dozens of armed police in riot gear.

"The commission declares Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the elected President of the Republic of Uganda," Election Commission chief Badru Kiggundu said as he read out results.

Large numbers of police and troops have been deployed on the streets of the capital Kampala. US Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday urged Museveni to "rein in" his security forces.

"The outcome of an elections can either tear or build a country... as Ugandans let us be prepared to exhibit more tolerance," commission chief Kiggundu said. "We love this country and you Ugandans love your country."

Besigye's party has decried results as "fraudulent", but Museveni's National Resistance Movement (NRM) party swiftly issued a statement celebrating the win.

"The result confirmed that our opponents failed to offer any alternative," NRM spokesman Mike Sebalu said. "Behind their vague claims of change, there were no policies and no chance of progress and people saw through these empty claims."

Ugandan police chief Kale Kayihura also warned that celebrations after results required police permission. "We anticipate that candidates who have won in the elections intended to hold celebratory activities... To protect public order, all candidates planning celebrations must first discuss and get clearance," he said.

The election on Thursday was disrupted in Kampala by the late arrival of ballot boxes and papers and angry demonstrations by voters that the police quelled using tear gas.

At nearly 28,000 other polling centres voting passed off smoothly, but the ballot was extended for a second day in 36 places after delays that Commonwealth election observers called "inexcusable" and that "seriously detracted from the fairness and credibility of the result."

European Union election observers on Saturday said that "voting was conducted in a calm and peaceful environment in the vast majority of the country". But the observers also voiced criticism over the "lack of transparency and independence" of the electoral commission.

Ex-prime minister Amama Mbabazi, a former ruling party stalwart, was trailing in a distant third with just over one percent of the vote.

Drama as Mother In-Law Chases Away Her Son's Wife for not Giving Birth After 5 Years

A woman has shown her disgust for her barren daughter-in-law in a most dramatic way as she stormed her son's home and drove her away.

A 31-year-old housewife has narrated how she was chased away from her matrimonial home by her mother-in-law because she could not bear a child for five years after she got married to the woman’s son in Lagos.

According to PM News, the woman, Mrs. Adaeze Nwosu revealed this at the Ejigbo Customary court where she and her husband are seeking the dissolution of the marriage on several grounds.

The embittered Adaeze lamented that her mother in-law contributed to the collapse of their marriage after she invaded their home and asked her to leave since she could not bear a child.

She also said her mother-in-law insisted that she would remain in the couple’s home until her son, Godwin impregnated any woman so that she could grand a child.

Adaeze said that her mother-in-law stayed and started wooing women for her husband and they were sleeping on their matrimonial bed but none of them was able to get pregnant for him after several months.

She said the trauma and intimidation became unbearable and she was forced to move out of her matrimonial home to have peace of mind.

The embittered woman said while all this was going on, her husband did not object to his mother’s meddlesome. Rather, he was fully obeying his mom’s directive by sleeping with the women.

She said when it became obvious that the marriage had irretrievably broken up, she suggested to Godwin to go to court for the dissolution of the marriage so that they can go their separate ways.

Both Godwin and Adaeze appealed before to the court that the marriage was boring and characterized by crises and that they do not have feelings for each other anymore.

Godwin who resides at 20, Oluwale street, Ejigbo with his wife, Adaeze, filed the suit on the ground of lack of care, irreconcilable differences, incompatibility, lack of love and asked the court to dissolve the marriage.

Adaeze in responses, told the court that Godwin was right on the claims for seeking divorce and pleaded with the court to immediately dissolve the marriage.

The court had earlier adjourned the matter for counseling and when it was obvious that they would not be able to reconcile their differences, the court went ahead with the hearing.

The matter has been adjourned for judgment.

Guys Beware! These Are the 7 Women Who Will End Up Wasting Your Time

It's an amazing feeling to be in love with someone. But sometimes we may be in a devastating relationship with people who will end up wasting our time. Find a list of those kinds of people.

Few things are more frustrating than coming across someone you could have had a spark with, only to find out that they’re just wasting your time.

We’re all very busy nowadays, and between work, socializing, keeping fit, and relaxing, we barely have the time to date. This makes it extremely frustrating when someone we are interested in is wasting our time. Luckily, when you know what to look for, it is quite easy to identify and avoid potential time wasters.

You need to have an abundance mindset – realize that the girl who is wasting your time is not ever going to be the one, and that you should move on as soon as possible to meet other girls who are potentially a better fit. Cliched as it may sound, there are other women out there who won’t end up wasting your precious time.

No idea what types of women will only end up frustrating you? Here are the top 7 types, along with ways to avoid them.

#1 She’s just not that into you. There is nothing worse than falling for a girl who is just not interested in you. She might be a friend, a colleague, or someone from your past. This is usually the case, leading to you coming into consistent contact with each other. Seeing her regularly keeps the feelings fresh and makes it impossible to forget about her.

Really, the best thing to do is avoid her and cut contact for a period, at least until you have met someone else or you have completely done away with whatever feelings you have for her. If you’re colleagues or close friends, it might not be possible to avoid her altogether, but you should keep things professional or friendly for a while, and focus your energy on meeting other women.

Meeting someone else is the best way to get over her and is also, funnily enough, the thing that is most likely to make her like you, since other women liking you can instantly make you desirable in her eyes.

Reality is rarely like a Rom-com, and trying to woo her when she is initially not interested is unlikely to get you anywhere, especially if she rebuffs your advances by saying…

#2 “Let’s just be friends” or LJBF. The classic line that women will say to let a guy down gently. She might give reasons, such as the fact that she isn’t looking for a relationship or she doesn’t want to ruin what you already have as friends. Recognize now that these are justifications to spare your feelings. It is her being nice and not telling you that she just isn’t interested.

The same applies as in #1. If she says LJBF, that is the end of the line for trying to seduce her. You are not Hugh Grant, and, again, the Rom-com plot hardly works in real life. Maintain your relationship with her as it currently is if you wish – especially if you are genuinely already friends – but move on to pursuing other women. You will get over her when you meet someone else that you like and who likes you back.

Once you have been “friend zoned,” it is nigh on impossible to get out of it. She doesn’t view you as a potential romantic partner, and you should move on as quickly as possible to avoid putting yourself through a fruitless emotional roller coaster.

#3 She’s still into her ex.  This isn’t your fault, and there really isn’t a whole lot you can do about it. If she can’t get over her ex, perhaps she is still in love with him and maybe even continuing to sleep with him, then she will not give herself to you.

When her emotions are elsewhere, you will never connect on a deeper level. You might be able to have a fling or a rebound relationship with her, and if you choose to pursue that, it is your prerogative. However, keep in mind that you may not progress any further.

In time, when she has allowed herself to truly get over her ex, she may realize that she can learn to want you after all. Don’t try to force it, though. Either keep things casual between you or give her some time, and revisit the idea later down the line to see how she responds.

#4 She’s always “busy.” If she has blown you off three times with excuses about being busy, she is probably just stringing you along. Chances are, she only sees you as a guy whom she can have at her beck and call whenever she feels like getting some attention or validation.

She might promise to make it up to you or she might show her remorse, but if all she has to offer you are excuses and apologies, then you’re better off not seeing her. What you can do, however, is try to turn the tables by being unavailable.
The next time she blows you off, avoid her for a week or two. It might give her enough time to realize that she misses you or that she actually likes you. But if she’s still as elusive as ever, there’s really no point in staying in touch with someone who can’t be bothered to invest some time in you.

#5 The text buddy. We spend all day staring at our phones, and women especially love to text and chat all the time. Don’t let yourself fall into the trap of becoming text buddies. You think you’re “getting to know each other” but really, communication through technology is no replacement for talking in real life.
You want to maintain an air of mystery and give her reasons to want to actually meet you and get to know who you are for real. So baring it all through text will only make her lose interest very quickly.

Text a bit less than she does, send shorter messages, and don’t be scared to cut a conversation off or not reply until the next day. Women love a guy who makes them chase him a bit, so don’t come  across as too keen – otherwise, you end up being her validation at the other end of the phone and never get to see her in reality.

#6 The gold digger. We’ve all heard of gold diggers, and maybe you’ve met some, especially if you are financially well off. Do not become the guy who pays for everything and gets nothing for it.

Whether you pay for everything on dates or not is up to you, and doing so doesn’t in any way make her a gold digger. What does make her a gold digger, is when she doesn’t show any interest in you, rebuffs your advances, and still wants you to buy her things or take her to places without the relationship moving forward over time.

It is faulty logic to think that if she isn’t in to you now, you need to throw more things or money at her. It won’t make her like you more, but she may well like the money and string it along for as long as she can.

If a girl isn’t into you when you take her for a picnic in the park, she won’t be into you when you take her 5-star dining, either.

#7 The flake. You’ve made plans, and she flakes on you at the last minute by making excuses or worse, not even showing up. Sometimes, emergencies happen, of course, but she will be apologetic if it is with a genuine reason. If she has flaked on you more than once, she is probably not really into you, and she’s just keeping you around as her backup plan.

Seriously, if a woman flakes out on you when you’ve already tried your patent best to ensure that she’ll have a great time with you, you’re better off exerting the same amount of effort on a woman who can appreciate what you’re willing to do for her.

Despite the initial feeling that she may be wasting your time, you can still try a few techniques to get her to appreciate you more. But if that doesn’t happen, remember that there are billions of women out there. The one who keeps wasting your time is not the one you are meant to be with.

Despite Transparent Evidence, Lai Mohammed Insists 2016 Budget was not Padded

The Minister of Information and Culture has said that the total for every ministry has remained exactly the same as what was submitted to the National Assembly, thereby insisting that the controversial 2016 Budget was not padded.
Lai Mohammed

Briefing journalists in Lagos on Saturday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, insist that the 2016 budget was not padded because the total figure voted for all ministries had not exceeded N6.08 trillion which was the official sum proposed by the government.

He said: "The total for every ministry has remained exactly the same as what was submitted to the National Assembly. A lot has been said about the budget. Let make clear that nobody can ever accuse this government of padding any budget.

"The total of all ministries put together has not exceeded N6.08 trillion that was submitted. It is factually incorrect to say that the budget was padded. This is the first time in the history of this country that a government will embark on what is called zero-based budget.

"Before now, the budget system was what was called an envelope system. In an envelope system, there is no justification as to why we need N30 billion for a structure. This year, we decide that every ministry must have a zero-based budget. In other word, you must justify and explain why you need N100 billion.

"This is very good system, the software for it was also very different. The personnel were not used to it. Now, in the process we got to National Assembly. What the ministers do is to have a broad overview of the budget. The template used by the Budget Office is uniform for all ministers."

Lai Mohammed also said exports, balance of trade, Gross Domestic Product were responsible for currency appreciation and depreciation.

"Before now we use to sell crude for about 100 dollar per barrel which means if we produce two million barrels per day, you have something in the region of 200 million dollar less the expenditure of production and others.

"But today for the same two million barrels, you have less than 60 million dollar less the cost of production. Clearly if your major source of exchange is crude and it has gone down from 100 per cent, you have lost 70 per cent of your source.

"Secondly, if your balance of trade is surplus, in other word, if you export more than you import, then you are going to have less money to settle other countries. What the government is doing is to ensure that the little resources we have are properly managed. Part of decision we took was Treasury Single Account.

"Others include blocking all sort form of corruption and diversify economy so that we can get foreign exchange for other sources," he said.
