NNPC Pays N85bn into Federation Account

The NNPC has remitted a huge amount of money from the proceeds of oil sales into the federation account according to an official report.
  
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it has paid N85.96 billion into the Federation Account for January 2016, according P.M news.

This was contained in its Monthly Operations and Financial Report for January, released on Sunday in Abuja. The corporation said it made the payment in spite of recording a loss of N3.55 billion in the same month.

It also said it paid N1.05 trillion into the Federation Account within a 12-month period, from February 2015 to January 2016. Giving a breakdown of the amounts transferred in January, NNPC said N85.077 billion was from the sale of crude oil while N880.3 million was receipts from gas sales.

It noted that the corporation posted a loss of N3.55billion, compared to a loss of N11.86 billion recorded in December 2015. According to the report, NNPC’s loss-making performance was triggered by a drop in its revenue from N184.4 billion recorded in December 2015 to N130.86 billion in January 2016.

The corporation said it recorded expenditure of N134.41 billion in the month under review compared to N196.26 billion in December 2015. It also revealed that the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, (NPDC), recorded a profit of N3.958 billion.

The Nigerian Gas Company, NNPC Retail and the Pipeline Products Marketing Company, PPMC, recorded profits of N3.94 billion, N477 million and N2.25 billion respectively. It listed Integrated Data Services Limited, IDSL, National Engineering Technical Company, NETCO in loss category with losses of N557 million and N215 million respectively.

“The Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries posted losses of N2.87 billion, N1.95 billion and N900 million respectively.
“The NNPC Group’s Corporate Headquarter and Corporate Services Unit recorded a deficit of N6.37 billion and N1.32 billion respectively,” the corporation was quoted as saying.

Shocking! Pilot Threatens To Crash Plane And Kill 200 Passengers If His Wife Broke Up With Him

A chilling revelation has shown that the pilot of a huge airplane threatened o crash the plane if his wife ditched him.

The Italian pilot sent her a text message threatening to bring down the aircraft on the long-haul flight from Rome last year.
 
It has only just been made public now as police revealed he was stopped minutes before take off on the Japan-bound flight.
 
The Times reports that the unnamed man, in his 40s, was stopped after his wife alerted authorities about his worrying message.
 
Passengers were not told about the incident.
 
It came just two months before Germanwings co-pilot Andrea Lubitz deliberately crashed a passenger plane into the French Alps, killing 149 people. He had locked the pilot out of the cockpit when he'd gone to the bathroom, taking control of the plane and flying it into the side of a mountain.
 
The Italian pilot, who has been suspended, is undergoing psychiatric evaluation after it was revealed he had previously been reported to police by his wife for mistreatment.

The news was communicated to the former President in a letter signed by the former Liberian Pro tem Senate president and chair, 2015 African Leadership Person of the Year Selection Committee, Cletus Wortoson.
 
The nominees include former Secretary General of the United Nations, Koffi Anan; National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; founder of Econet Wireless; Strive Masiyiwa; Chairman of Heirs Holding, Tony Elumulelu; Executive Director of UN Women, Mlambo-Ngcuka, President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Akinwunmi Adesina.
 
Wortoson noted that the selection committee and the African Leadership Advisory Board placed a very high premium on Jonathan’s commitment towards deepening democracy on the continent.
 
The letter reads, “There is no one best suited at the moment than Your Excellency, to advise the continent’s leaders on the merits of good governance and enduring democracy.
 
“Your popular mantra of ‘one man one vote’ and ‘my ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian,’ is a message that must be preached loud and clear on the continent, hence our endorsement.
 
“In adopting you as our choice, we placed a very high premium on your commitment towards deepening democracy on the continent – a characteristic which is uncommon among most African leaders at the highest level today.
 
“Chief among the many factors we considered was your efforts towards promoting good governance in Africa-through the promotion of free and fair elections across the continent. Your recent assignment to Tanzania received accolades and international acclaim, because, you discharged the responsibility most creditably.”

Church Security Guards Arrested After Disappearing with N500,000 Tithe Money

A bizarre incident has led to the arrest and arraignment of four church security guards after they disappeared with a whopping N500,000 tithe money.

Four security guards, who allegedly stole N500,000 from a church tithe box, were on Monday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
 
The accused, who pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, are Amos Danjuma, 20; Taiwo Akintola, 39; Bright Innocent, 28; and Tajudeen Shoni, 64.
 
The Prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie, told the court the accused committed the offenses on January 25 at about 4am.
 
Odigie said the accused conspired to steal N500,000 from the tithe box belonging to Ascension Anglican Church at Alasia Bus Stop, Badore Road, Eti-Osa, Lagos.
 
He said: “The four accused are guards employed to secure the church.
“The first and second accused were on night duty, while the third and fourth were on morning duty.”
 
The prosecutor said the offenses contravened Sections 309 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
 
Counsel to the accused, Ademola Owolabi, applied for their bail in liberal terms and assured the court that they would not jump bail.
 
The Magistrate, L. A. Owolabi, granted each of the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
Owolabi adjourned the case till March 22 for hearing.

Caroline Danjuma and Nigeria Fashion Police engaged in a bitter fight this afternoon after Fashion Police called her stylist Swankyjerry out and said some of the things she wore to her movie premiere 'Stalker' are fake.
 
Trouble started after the actress posted the photo above on Instagram with the caption: A huge round of applause to @tojufoye and @swankyjerry #repost@tojufoyeh
 
Soon after, Fashion Police came for her calling her jewelry cheap but Danjuma would have none of it and an altercation ensued.
