Nigeria Police Commission Approves Promotion Of 623 Officers

About 623 senior police officers across various ranks in the Nigeria police have been promoted.

The Police Service Commission, PSC, says it has approved the promotion of 623 senior police officers across various ranks in the force.

The Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

He said the promotions were approved at the 7th Plenary Meeting of the commission held on Friday and Saturday.

Ani said the promotions were strictly based on seniority, merit, availability of vacancies and clean record of service.

He said that 40 Deputy Commissioners of Police were elevated to Commissioners of Police; 98 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners while 150 Chief Superintendents were promoted to Assistant Commissioners.

Mr Ani said that 335 Superintendents also had their promotions approved to the next rank of Chief Superintendent.

He said the Chairman of the Commission, Musiliu Smith, urged the newly promoted officers to rededicate themselves to national development by upholding the ethics and rules of the force.

Ani said the chairman pledged the commitment of the commission to continue to ensure that deserving police officers were promoted as and when due.

Manchester United could 'deal immediately' and finally grant Paul Pogba his wish of leaving in January... if Juventus offer '£52m and Emre Can' for the midfielder

Juventus have reportedly made a breakthrough in negotiations with Manchester United to bring midfielder Paul Pogba back to the club in the January transfer window.

According to Tuttosport, an offer of 60million euros (£52million) plus Emre Can could be enough for United to 'deal immediately'.
The Italian publication adds that Pogba is fed up at Old Trafford and would be delighted to return to the Serie A club for a second spell.
Pogba made a return to United's first-team on Sunday in the 2-0 defeat by bottom of the league Watford after almost three months out with an ankle injury.
The France midfielder's contract at United expires in 18 months, meaning the club might have to consider doing business and granting his departure sooner than later or risk losing him for a less substantial fee.
Pogba joined United from Juventus in August 2016 in what was then a world record transfer fee of £90m.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted last week that Pogba would not be leaving the club in the January window.
'He's not getting sold in January, no,' Solskjaer said. 'He's training but he's not been training with us for long. He's training and that's a step forward for us.
'Yeah, of course (I understand all the interest around him) because he's a fantastic player, a charismatic personality and for us we're happy that he's here.
'We know that we've got one of the best players in the world when he's playing well, when he gets fit.'
But despite what Solskjaer has said, reports of unrest around Pogba refuse to subside.
While recovering from his ankle injury, Pogba was filmed playing basketball in the United States in November. His return to the team was then delayed further when he fell ill after being given permission to attend his brother's wedding in France.
Former Liverpool midfielder Can has been demoted to a bit-part role under Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri and was left out of their squad for the Champions League.
The 25-year-old has only played seven times for Juventus so far this season.

Man Utd should sign Mandzukic as a quick fix’ – Red Devils still not top-four contenders, says Parker

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considered to need a proven striker as the very minimum requirement during the upcoming January transfer window

Manchester United should be looking to snap up Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic as a quick fix, says Paul Parker, with the Red Devils a proven striker and creative midfielder away from being top-four challengers.
As things stand, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are considered to be short of the standard required to secure Champions League qualification through their final Premier League standing.
An opportunity to bolster the ranks is, however, about to present itself.

'Man Utd want trophies & to win in the right style' - Solskjaer opens up on 'cultural reboot' at Old Trafford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to "become what they used to be" under his stewardship and start fighting for trophies again, while sticking to the club's core values at all times.
The Red Devils have endured their worst start to a top-flight season in 33 years, slipping to eighth in the table with just 25 points on the board from 18 fixtures.
Since being handed the managerial reins on a permanent basis back in March, Solskjaer has implemented a number of changes in a bid to restore the club's former glories, but is yet to find a successful formula.
